MIXING HAIRCOLOR AT HOME!
Supplies Needed:
1. Hair Color: Your chosen shade in a tube or bottle. (Matrix SOCOLOR Extra Coverage permanent hair color is your best bet!)
2. Developer: The appropriate volume
(Usually 10vol will do).
3. Mixing Bowl: Non-metallic to avoid chemical reactions.
4. Tint Brush: For precise mixing and application.
5. Measuring Tools: A scale or measuring cups to ensure the correct ratio (usually 1:1 or 1:2).
6. Gloves: To protect your hands from stains and irritation.
7. Towel or Cape: To protect clothing from spills.
8. Clips: For sectioning hair during application.
Optional: A timer to ensure proper processing
Directions for use:
Mixing hair color in a 1:2 ratio involves combining one part hair color with two parts developer.
This method ensures the color is activated properly for optimal results.
Start by squeezing the desired amount of hair color into a mixing bowl, then measure and add twice that amount of developer. (For hairline ½ ounce Haircolor to 1 ounce Developer.)
Stir the mixture thoroughly using a tint brush until it becomes smooth and creamy.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for precise measurements and timing.
Applying Hair Color for the Hairline Touchup
Using a tint brush, carefully apply the hair color along your hairline, ensuring even coverage.
Work in small sections to avoid missing any spots, especially around the ears and temples. Be gentle to avoid overloading the hair with color.
Processing Time
Processing time depends on the hair color formula and desired results, usually ranging between 25 to 45 minutes.
For gray coverage, full processing time is ideal. Set a timer and avoid rinsing prematurely to ensure vibrant and even color.
You typically need to shampoo after applying permanent hair color, but it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Here’s why and how:
1. Rinse First: Once the processing time is complete, rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. This removes excess dye.
2. Shampoo with Care: Use a color-safe or sulfate-free shampoo to gently cleanse your scalp and hair. This helps remove any leftover chemicals while preserving the color.
3. Condition: Follow with a moisturizing conditioner. This restores moisture and seals the color.
Avoid using harsh shampoos immediately after coloring, as they can strip the color and reduce vibrancy.
